    Hi,
My name is Nicola Mc Cusker. I am a 22 year old Law Graduate, from Queens University, Belfast. I was also recently accepted for an L.L.M in Fordham University, New York, of which I deferred entry to obtain experience within the legal field.
I took the bar exam in February 2009, passing first time and I have since received my admission date for April 2010.
I recently traveled to New York City to achieve a hands on approach in my job search. I was hoping to access the corporate sector of the legal world, however with the current market I am aware this will be difficult, therefore I would be willing to explore any areas if the opportunity presents itself.
Any advice or pointers as to gaining an Associate position in New York at this time would be greatly appreciated.
I can be contacted at: nmccusker07@qub.ac.uk
Thank you for your time and consideration.
    Kind regards,
    Nicola

    Hi,
My name is Emmet Galvin. I am a 28 year old Irish Law graduate. I hold an Undergraduate Degree in Law, a Postgraduate Degree in Law (LL.B) and a Master of Laws (LL.M) I have continually received Honors grades throughout my education. Also, I recently passed the New York Bar exam in July 2009 and I am hoping to be sworn in as a New York Lawyer in June 2010 after I have passed the MPRE in March 2010.
I am planning on remaining in New York after I have been sworn in, as permitted by the visa waiver scheme, for up to 90 days to seek work in the legal field. I am hoping to eventually practice as an Aircraft Finance Attorney but I would welcome any advice or otherwise as how to get my legal career started in New York. I understand how difficult the market place is at the moment but I am prepared to put in the work and consider any legal roles that would give me the valuable experience needed to eventually practice as a reputable New York Lawyer.
Any advice would be most welcome as despite the fact that I have put a lot of research into the legal market place in New York, I cannot help but fell I am going in blind insofar as my approach is concerned.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my message and as I said, any advice or otherwise would be most welcome.
    I can be contacted at : galvin.emmet@gmail.com

Hi I am a law graduate from Ireland with work experience in the legal (litigation) and insurance (liability claims) sectors. I am currently in NYC preparing to sit the Bar Exams in February. I have recently discovered that SAYIT Travel in Dublin have partnered with Interexchange in the US to run a new J1 Trainee Program here in the US. I am eligible for this program but first I need to secure a traineeship position for up to 18 months with a host company in the US (at no cost to the company).I would like to gain experience preferably in a law firm or in-house legal dept and this J1 visa would allow me to avail of the training. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would be able to share any advice on how to go about obtaining such a trainee position or otherwise. I can be contacted via email at shanekelleher1@gmail.com. Thanks.

    Hello,
I’m a filmmaker and singer here in NYC. I’m of Irish descent and I was so happy to find this site recently. I’m currently working on a music project with world renowned pianist Paul Bisaccia that is slated to be shown on PBS. It will be a series of musical vignettes - one of which is a very famous and beloved Irish tune so I’m hoping to find a lovely Interior) location to film it in that has an Irish connection. Does anyone know where I might find a place like this in NYC? As I am a very independent filmmaker I cannot offer pay but I’d like to include a short interview and tell about the place we use in the program and of course it would receive screen credit. Thanks for your help.

IQ360 is a Newry Co. Down based initiative of the Southern Regional College in Newry engaging with Dundalk Institute of Technology to showcase the entrepreneurial support services available at Greenshoots Incubation and Innovation Centre in Newry and at the Regional Development Centre in Dundalk. Greenshoots is a joint initiative of the Southern Regional College and the University of Ulster.

Through the success of the IQ360 programme, it is expected that a greater number of graduate expatriates and internationally mobile ‘would be’ entrepreneurs will locate to this cross-border region to establish knowledge-based ventures. Indeed several may have already successfully started a venture already. The programme also aims to recruit talented professionals with early stage business ideas, who commute daily out of the region to cities such as Dublin and Belfast.

With improved rail and road infrastructure around the eastern cross-border region and proximity to Belfast and Dublin, rail, air and ports, Newry and Dundalk are becoming increasingly attractive places to set up and operate businesses. This new progressive and exciting collaboration pools the resources of all of the Third Level colleges in this cross-border region and their experience in business incubation, business support, cross-border business development, programme delivery and new venture creation.

I currently represent 41 artists within the greater New York area who collectively create a profound company that deals with a rather prolific spectrum of art. Works consist of photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, mixed media, street art, or as I would like to say, “something for everyone’s artistic appeal.” I am looking to extend my client base beyond my personal contacts and promote the value of purchasing an original piece of artwork. The starting price is $200 and can range up to $8000.

In the meantime, tax season is quickly approaching and I just wanted to let you all know that I help my clients with sometimes complicated tax situations - multi-state, inpat/expat issues, etc. Many of my clients include attorneys and other professionals in the Metro NY area. I have accounting undergrad and Master’s in Taxation degrees, and have been a CPA in NY for about 8 years. I am also a fee-only financial planner, which means the only comepnsation I receive is directly from my clients and I do not represent any insurance or investment firm. Please feel free to email me or forward my email (gerry@odfpllc.com) to a friend or colleague who may be looking for tax help and I will be glad to discuss your particular situation or concerns.
