Date: Thursday, October 21, 2010, 6:30 – 9:30pm
Venue: Papillon, 22 East 54th Street (between Madison and 5th)

IN-NYC is pleased to announce that we have had great interest in the launch of the Mentoring Program. The aim of the program is to bring together Irish & Irish American professionals at different stages of their careers to the benefit of all. We have identified a number of mentors and mentees from across a variety of fields, including finance, law, the arts. Come along to meet them and find out more about the mentoring program at the official launch at 7.30pm during this month’s Third Thursday event. Please email Kevin Elliot (Kevin.Elliott@ida.ie) to indicate your interest in participating in the program and your field of interest, so we can easily identify you on the night. Alternatively, feel free to turn up on the night to take part in the launch of this exciting program.

Following last year’s success, this month’s Third Thursday also brings back our very own Oktoberfest. Come along and enjoy the drinks specials ($3 beers) and plenty of free food!

The IN-NYC website was launched in time for St. Patrick’s Day in March. The organisation owes its inception to the vision of former Consul-General for Ireland, Tim O’Connor, current Vice Consul-General, David Healy and Austin Gormley, former Press Officer at the Consulate”. who, in early 2006, began hosting a series of events at the Irish Consulate aimed at attracting young Irish professionals working in Business & Finance, Law, Medicine and the Arts & Cultural communities in the city.

Between early 2006 and early 2007, the Consulate built a database of names from these various professions who attended the events at the Consulate and elsewhere and in March of 2007, IN-NYC was established so that the Consulate’s blueprint could be built into a strong and independent network. Today, we have an official website – with over 150 full-time members and over 600 on our mailing list. New members are joining daily as news of the network spreads.

IN-NYC aims to be the forum through which the ambition, talent and energy of the many Irish professionals working in New York can be harnessed to create a dynamic group that contributes energetically and exponentially to the quality of the professional and social lives of its members and indeed, strengthens the overall economic and cultural relationship between Ireland and the U.S.
