Events YTD

So far in 2010 we have put together a number of events, from an evening with Denis OBrien to our St Patrick’s Weekend Party.

Extracts as follows.

An evening with Denis O’Brien
We hosted an evening with leading irish Businessman Denis O’Brien which drew an audience of almost 200 attendees. Held at the Mutual of America building on Park Ave it turned out to be a great networking event.
The format for the evening was similar to our Peter Sutherland event with Bloomberg News Correspondant Margaret Brennen interviewing our guest on his life experience thus far. The evening ended with a post event party attended by many of those who were at the main event.

Concern Charity Run
Team IN-NYC raised over $2,000 in the Fun Run for Haiti. Added to our more than $6,000 from 3T fundraiser in January and $2,000 from the Denis O’Brien event, IN-NYC has raised over $10,000 for Concern’s Haiti earthquake relief efforts so far this 2010.”

Soccer
Saturday, April 17th, 2010 – IN-NYC organized and hosted its first inaugural Celtic Nations Charity Shield soccer tournament in which 8 teams consisting of players from Celtic Nations competed for the fun of the game and the spirit of raising money for SelfHelp Africa. After a fun and competitive tournament, Team Brittany narrowly edged out Team Irish Rovers 1-0 in the final. IN-NYC was very gratified to have not only its Celtic cousins from Brittany and Portugal represented in the tournament, but also, its fellow IN friends from IN-Philly, who submitted a team. After the tournament all players and supported enjoyed a gathering at Gatsby’s Bar & Restaurant on Spring Street. Gatsby’s had very generously sponsored the day’s proceedings. In all, the tournament raised almost $2,000 for SelfHelp Africa. IN-NYC aims to make the Celtic Nations Charity Shield an annual event. Special thanks to tournament organizers, IN-NYC members Eric Moore and Hugh Gibbons.
