Concern Worldwide US is an independent affiliate of Concern Worldwide, with offices in New York and Chicago. Our mission is to support the work of Concern Worldwide by financially supporting programs, representing Concern with national/international co-funders and organizations, facilitating the recruitment of personnel and raising the organization’s profile. Concern Worldwide US also engages in development education programs with the general public and with high schools in the US.
Based in New York, the Finance Director will be a member of the senior management team and reports to the Executive Director of Concern Worldwide US
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Finance Director include the following:
1. Personnel Management
The Finance Director will manage a team of three people:
• Finance and IT Officer
• Office Administrator
• HR and Board Liaison Officer
2 Financial Management
• Prepares and circulates monthly management accounts to budget holders.
• Co-ordinates and collates the annual budget process.
• Monitors and ensures proper adherence to all internal controls.
• Prepares the annual accounts and other statutory returns.
• Coordinates the annual statutory and A133 audits.
• Oversight of all finance related functions including cash and bank management, income reconciliations, asset management and payroll.
• Conducts periodic internal reviews of policies, procedures and systems, comparing with best practices of US Not for Profits.
• Provides support, advice and coordinates training and tools for staff as it relates to financial management of their departments.
3 Governance and Compliance
• Prepares and presents a quarterly finance report for the Concern Worldwide US Board of Directors at the three board meetings held annually.
• Serves as liaison to the Audit Committee of the Board.
• Ensures compliance with all federal regulations and requirements governing non-profits.
• Ensures compliance with donor regulations.
• Responsible for ensuring timely filing of statutory returns, state and other relevant registrations.
• Responsible for ensuring that all governing documents are up to date and that the provisions of these documents adhered to.
4. Grant Management and Finance Support
• Reviews all grant and funding budgets prior to their submission to relevant donors.
• Acts as the financial backstop on the USAID Child Survival grants awarded to Concern Worldwide US.
• Responsible for the review and submission of quarterly finance reports to USAID.
• Provides financial support and guidance on USAID rules and regulations.
• Manages the development and submission of organization’s annual indirect cost proposal and negotiation of final rates.
• Coordinates and carries out monitoring visits to USAID funded programs.
5. Office Systems
• Manages the IT function of both the New York and Chicago offices and coordinates the relevant systems support needed.
• Responsible for the management and development of the Human Resources systems for Concern Worldwide US.
• Ensures that the administration function of the Concern Worldwide US offices adhere to the procedures established.
• Oversight of all systems issues related to the donor database and its integration with the finance function.
• Responsible for the review of insurance documents, lease agreements, contracts and other legally binding contracts with third parties.

6. Other
• Liaises with the finance function of Concern Worldwide in Ireland and provides financial, accounting and auditing services as appropriate.
• As a member of the senior management team, contributes to the overall leadership, decision-making and direction of Concern Worldwide US
• Undertakes or supports other functions or special projects delegated by the Executive Director
Requirements:
• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA /ACA / CIMA / CPA or equivalent)
• At least three years experience managing the finance function of an organization
• Experience with computerized accounting packages. Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains desirable.
• Previous supervisory experience
• A proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Flexibility and ability to manage and prioritize a complex and changing workload.
• Sensitive interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to the core values and vision of Concern Worldwide.
• Good understanding of international development and humanitarian issues.
• Flexible approach to travel and working outside of normal office hours.
Overseas work experience in a developing country is highly desirable.

Foundation Officer

The Role
Based in New York, and reporting to the Development Manager, the Foundation Officer will work closely with
the development team and senior management team to enhance Concern’s support among US-based private
and corporate foundations.
The position requires working one-on-one with both donors and technical personnel across 28 countries of
operation to develop proposals and reports.
Responsibilities:
• Planning and Oversight: Develop strategy, and monitor budgets and philanthropic trends.
• Solicitations: Coordinate prospect research, correspondence, and the development of proposals in the
range of $20,000 – $1,000,000.
• Grant Management: Prepare reports, maintain and develop donor relationships, and organize site visits
(national/international) related to donor interests.
• Information Management: Work with Concern overseas field staff, including Ireland and UK, to collect,
file, and share information on priority programs.
Requirements:
• Masters level education in a relevant field is preferred
• A minimum of 5 years fundraising experience
• A proven ability to secure grants of $200,000 or more
• Experience in grant management
• Excellent communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to travel internationally
• Proven commitment to international emergency and development issues
• Flexibility in working hours is necessary due to deadlines and communications with overseas field based
personnel
• Proven ability and experience in managing multiple tasks with tight timelines
• Experience working in a developing country is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the US philanthropic sector
