IN-NYC 2011 Annual General Meeting

Happy 2012 to all IN-NYCers! It’s time to shake-off the post-holiday doldrums and convene for our AGM where we will re-cap a successful 2011, elect our new Board, and brainstorm for the year ahead!!

Please review the below and submit your interest in serving on the Board as soon as you can. Watch for an e-Blast confirming the location of the AGM in the coming week.

Board Member Duties

All interested IN-NYC members are encouraged to consider running for the Board. The current Board consists of 12 elected members and while there is no specific number we have to go with, our By-Laws do not allow us to go above 12.

As a guide to considering your interest in serving, below are some – but by no means all – of the duties performed by the Board members:
o Participation in the planning, promotion and attendance at approximately one substantive event every two months (this is in addition to our monthly 3rd Thursday event)
o Participation in monthly meetings either in-person or via conference call (there are also semi-annual meetings with the Consulate General)
o Participation in pursuing fundraising and sponsorship opportunities for IN-NYC
o Development of Networking Contacts
o Website Management & Maintenance
o Membership Recruitment
o Email Management and Membership Directory Administration.

Nominations to Board
If you would like to run for a position on the Board, you must be a paid up member, you can nominate yourself or be nominated by a third party, by email in advance of the meeting.

Each nomination must then be officially proposed and seconded on the day. Those running for a position on the Board should try to ensure their presence at the AGM.

However, if you cannot attend on Saturday January 28th 2012, due to emergency your nomination for candidacy may be submitted in advance by email, in the normal course, but must receive an in-person proposal and second at the AGM.

Nomination Deadline
ALL nominations for Board position must be received by email no later than 5pm January 25, 2012 by 5pm.

At the AGM, the list of nominations will be read out at the beginning of the election process. Should a vote be required to determine the most suitable candidates, a ballot will be held. A second email (to members only) will follow this, with the details necessary for the nomination process.

We would emphasize that it is important for people to consider carefully the suitability and willingness of candidates for positions on the Board before submitting their nominations.
Please make every effort to attend. It is this membership that has shaped and will continue to shape the course of IN-NYC as it goes forward in 2012.
