Venue: American Irish Historical Society, 991 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10028 (5th Ave. and 80th, opposite Metropolitan Museum of Art)
Founded in 1897 to inform the world of the achievements of the Irish in America, the American Irish Historical Society (AIHS) headquarters on Fifth Avenue reopened in March 2008 after a two-year restoration and renovation as an international center of scholarship, education and cultural enrichment dedicated to promoting the significant and on-going contributions of Irish immigrants and their descendants to the U.S.; and, on September 15 AIHS will play gracious host to IN NYC’s September Networking Event.
Come experience the extraordinary AIHS Fifth Avenue headquarters, share a drink and network with fellow IN NYC members and friends, and meet AIHS Director, Christopher Cahill, to hear how AIHS serves as a focal point for the contemporary transatlantic Irish experience sponsoring public programs to explore current issues, celebrating the renaissance in Irish culture with its weekly lectures, visual art exhibits and concerts, and maintaining an extensive collection of Irish and American Irish books, newspapers, archives and memorabilia.
